Flagstaff High School Football Update -- September 16, 2020
- Updated
Local high school sports are preparing for their upcoming season. Sports reporter Jasmine Navarrete caught up with Coconino Panthers' head coach, Mike Lapsley and Flagstaff Eagles' head coach, Todd Hanley. With COVID in the mix, the coaches are keeping their players centered on their goals. They both aspire to go on a playoff run and eventually take it all in the state championship.
Coconino is focused on taking it a step further this year. With a solid record of 9-2, the Panthers are always in attack mode. They plan on continuing to follow practice plans and with the coach’s guidance and the team’s motivation, make it to a playoff run.
On the other side of town, the Flagstaff Eagles are preparing to make a name for themselves. They have that underdog mentality that only fuels their desire to show the world that they are serious contenders. They had a record of 6-4 last season and with as strong coaching staff, motivated players and NFL connections the team hopes to improve their record and become the team to fear on the gridiron.
