Flagstaff Planned Parenthood Considers Closure
- Updated
April 1, 2014 - NAZ today discuss the possible closure of Planned Parenthood in Flagstaff. Planned Parenthood Arizona has filed an appeal after U.S. District Judge, David C. Bury refused to temporarily block the restriction on the use of common abortion inducing drugs including RU 486.
Planned Parenthood argues these restrictions, which were released back in January, severely infringe on a woman's ability to have an abortion, especially in Northern Arizona where patients have to travel father to visit a clinic. Planned Parenthood also says the restrictions could force their Flagstaff clinic to suspend operations.
Still, Judge Bury argues these obstacles are not significant enough to change the restriction on the use of the abortion drugs. In the meantime, the Flagstaff clinic is evaluating how it will continue operations.
