Indigenous people’s day is a relatively new holiday which had been first declared in 1992 in Berkeley, California, and has since then been adopted by different cities throughout the country. Yet despite it’s fair share of supporters, many still refuse to recognize it, instead preferring to call the second Monday of October, Columbus day.
NAZ Today’s Christian Ayala speaks with Flagstaff locals to discuss the importance and message that Indigenous People’s day sends to people. whether they are indigenous or not.
