The now closed Hotel Aspen has been part of a new partnership with Flagstaff Shelter Services, which focuses on trying to provide shelter to people who test positive for COVID-19 but do not have stable housing. NAZ Today’s Christian Ayala spoke with Flagstaff Shelter Services Executive Director, Ross Althenbaugh about the partnership.

According to Althenbaugh, the shelter sees housing as healthcare and that people who experience homelessness are healthier when they have housing. In addition to this, the partnership also helps with reducing transmissions of the disease. So far Coconino county has spent nearly three and a half million on the project in order to combat the spread of COVID-19
