Storm Ranks #3 in the Record Books for Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF (NAZ Today) – The massive storm that brought heavy snow to Northern Arizona will go down in the history books.  The total snowfall from Monday – Friday ranks third among the largest recorded snowfall amounts of all time in Flagstaff.

The first storm that arrived Monday brought about 10″ to snow to Flagstaff.  Directly behind it, storm #2, which brought another foot of snow to the high country.

On Wednesday night, the most powerful storm started dropping snow in the high country as well as locations in Yavapai and Gila Counties.  The heavy snow fall lasted through Friday.

To add to the heavy snowfall, snow levels rose briefly Thursday afternoon which caused heavy rain to fall at high elevations.  The heavy rain led to severe flooding in some areas south of the Mogollon Rim.

By Friday the heavy snowfall was causing major damage and roof collapses in Flagstaff and the White Mountains.
