FLAGSTAFF (AP) — Gabe Rogers hit a 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds left in overtime to lift Northern Arizona to a 74-71 win over Eastern Washington on Saturday night clinching the Lumberjacks a spot in the Big Sky Conference tournament.

It was the Lumberjacks’ third straight overtime game — the first time in NAU history that has happened. The last time they had played two in a row before this season was in 1997-98.

Northern Arizona (13-13, 7-8 Big Sky) lost to Idaho State on Feb. 13, 73-71, in overtime and then topped Portland State 86-85 in double overtime on Thursday. The Lumberjacks also went to overtime in a 70-63 loss to Northern Colorado on Feb. 7, so four of their last five games have gone beyond 40 minutes.

On Saturday, Northern Arizona trailed 69-67 when Rogers hit a 3 with 1:07 left to give the Lumberjacks a one-point lead.

The Lumberjacks’ DeAngelo Jones hit one of two free throws with 21 seconds left, but the Eagles’ Glen Dean hit a shot with 10 seconds left to tie it, setting up Rogers’ game-winner.

Cameron Jones led the Lumberjacks with 23 points and Rogers finished with 18. Junior Shane Johannsen picked up his first double-double with 14 points and a career-high 13 rebounds.

NAU’s Julian Olubuyi tied his career-high with 10 assists.

Dean and Brandon Moore each had 13 for Eastern Washington (8-20, 4-10). Moore added 12 rebounds in the loss.

The Eagles’ Benny Valentine forced the overtime when his layup with 12.3 seconds to play made the score 64-all.

FLAGSTAFF (AP) — DeAngelo Jones scored with 11.3 seconds left in the second overtime to lift Northern Arizona to an 86-85 win over Portland State on Thursday night.

Chris Harriel hit a shot with 33.8 seconds left to give the Vikings (10-16, 5-8 Big Sky) a one-point lead before Jones converted his game-winning layup.

Cameron Jones scored 26 points to lead the Lumberjacks (12-13, 6-8), who ended a four-game losing streak. Gabe Rogers added 20 points.

Dominic Waters led Portland State, which lost its fourth in a row, with 29 points.

The Lumberjacks, who have gone to overtime in three of their past four games, had a chance to win it at the end of regulation and the first overtime.

After Jamie Jones hit a layup for the Vikings with 35 seconds left in regulation to tie the score at 63, Cameron Jones missed a driving layup with 2 seconds left, and Nick Larson missed a tip-in.

In the first extra session, Northern Arizona led 72-70 before Jamie Jones again tied the score with a layup. It appeared the Lumberjacks would to have the last shot, but Julian Olubuyi tripped as he was heading up court and Portland State’s Julius Thomas scored on a layup with 5 seconds left, giving the Vikings a two-point lead.

Olubuyi then raced end-to-end, hit a layup with 0.4 seconds left and was fouled. Olubuyi, though, missed his free throw.

Jamie Jones finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Larson led all players with 15 rebounds.

10:00 p.m. Nov. 19th update: APS is reporting that at approximately 9:20 p.m. power was restored to all 1,300 customers affected by this outage. Repair crews performed an inspection of the lines and equipment and found no immediate damage. Once the inspection was complete they were able to re-energize the lines. No immediate cause of the black out has been determined, but APS is continuing to look into the exact cause of the outage. The NAU/Pacific men’s basketball game at Rolle Activity Center was delayed when the lights went out in the second half, and the Big Sky officiating crew decided to suspend the game after about 45 minutes, according to nauathletics.com.

Flagstaff (NAZ Today) - A significant power outage occurred at approximately 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19th which left many businesses and homes on the west side of Flagstaff in the dark this evening. Power was out throughout most of the NAU campus. Officials from Arizona Public Service (APS) say that approximately 1,300 customers were affected by this outage. They are also saying that the outages ranged from between Riordan road to McConnell Drive and from Boulder Point Estates to east of Milton Dr.
