Flagstaff Unified School Distract postponed their athletics last week while Northland Preparatory Academy did not. As well as cross country and football are back this week. Sports Reporter Kristen Chancellor got the details from NPA Head Coach Erik Carrillo and Flagstaff High School’s Senior quarterback Morgan Bewley.
NPA boys soccer starts the season off strong with a win two weeks ago against Ash Fork. This team under new head coach Erik Carrillo is headed in a positive direction this season focusing on team building and localizing the ball on the field to maximize on scoring opportunities. While the team is getting adjusted to a new coach it is clear to see that his efforts are not going unnoticed by players and the scoreboard.
Cross country is in full swing for the Coconino Panthers as they competed last week and came out with Boys taking home third and Girls taking home first. This group of runners is proving to be very impressive and has a long way to go to keep improving this season. They have an invitation this upcoming weekend at Camp Verde High School.
Flagstaff High School Football starts its season off on Friday play Mingus High School. The Eagles are in a first off last off mentality that pushes these players to their greatest abilities. However, this season has proven to be difficult with no fan attendance as well as restrictions being added and taken away. Senior quarterback Morgan Bewley discusses how this team is affected by these changes but how the team is happy to be back on the fields.
