Tuesday afternoon the Coconino High School Panthers softball team defeated the Saguaro Sabercats 7-2. NAZ Today sports reporter Lauren Hunt has more on the strong victory for the lady Panthers.

After a single by sophomore Brooklynn Wong in the bottom half of the first frame, senior McKenna Gladden started the scoring with a RBI triple to bring in Wong. In the bottom of the fifth inning Panther’s Makynzie Miller-Smith hit a two-run homer in route to their 7-2 victory over the Sabercats.

Panthers head coach Kimberly Dennis credited this victory to a solid pitching game as well as good defense. The team is fired up for this season as they hope to get their team to number one. Junior Taylor Brown is excited for the upcoming games against Mohave and Flagstaff high. The lady Panthers look to keep rolling this season and take their momentum into the playoffs.
