Flagstaff (NAZ Today)- As the monsoon season kicks off in Flagstaff, helicopters can be seen flying over the areas recently burned during in the Schultz fire. A few weeks ago similar helicopters were busy dropping water on the raging forest fire, today they are helping to stabilize and rehabilitate the burned areas. These efforts are being done in order prevent rain water from flowing into Timberline and the other surrounding neighborhoods. The helicopters are being used to drop straw and mulch into 2, 570 acres of severely burned forest. Andy Stevenson, a Forester for the Coconino National Forest explains the stabilization process.
