Flagstaff (NAZ Today)- On Friday, July 16th a Coconino County Deputy Sheriff was attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a black Camaro sedan driving recklessly along Camp-Townsend Winona Road. The vehicle failed to yield to the marked Sheriff’s Department vehicle with red and blue lights and audible siren. The fleeing vehicle made an abrupt U-turn and began traveling east at a high rate of speed.
At approximately 2:33 p.m. the driver of the vehicle lost control on Camp Townsend Winona Road just east of Foster Road. The driver crossed into oncoming traffic and was struck broadside by a westbound half ton Chevrolet pickup truck occupied by a family from Polacca, Arizona. The Camaro broke into two pieces with the rear end landing approximately 20-30 yards from the front end of the vehicle.
All three occupants of the pick up truck and the driver of the Camaro sedan were transported to the Flagstaff Medical Center. A Guardian helicopter was called in to transport one of the patients to the hospital, the rest were transported by ground ambulances.
The accident is being investigated by the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office. The names of all individuals involved in this accident are being withheld until family members can be notified.

There’s no such thing as a Camaro “sedan”. The bottom line here is, “don’t run, you’ll only die tired”.
