Flagstaff (NAZ Today)-  Cooler temperatures, low winds, and higher humidity helped fire crews to make significant gains in containment on the Schultz Fire.  Today crews focused their attention on improving parts of the containment line along the western side of the fire where pockets of interior heat still remained.

To date, the fire has consumed a total of 15,075 acres at a cost of $8,291,164.

As firefighters continue to make significant progress, many of the resources used to fight the fire including personnel and equipment are being released.  The released crews will be returning to their home areas of operation or moving on to other fire operations around the country.  On Thursday the Type I crew that is currently managing the fire hopes to hand over operational control over to a smaller Type III crew from New Mexico.

Fire managers are also very appreciative of the support that has been provided by the members of the community.
