Flagstaff (NAZ Today) - Preliminary forecasts from the National Weather Service indicate that winter conditions will soon return to Northern Arizona starting as early as next Monday. There is a potential for a series of storms that could bring large amounts of snow to the area. The City of Flagstaff is encouraging all citizens to begin preparing now and be prepared for large accumulations of snow.
Residents are reminded to be prepared in case of snow-ins and power outages during these storms. City officials are recommending residents to have extra bottled water, non-perishable food, prescription medication, flashlights, battery-powered radios, and extra batteries in your home.
Residents should also anticipate the needs of infants, elderly, special needs family members and pets.
They also recommend winterizing your vehicle with snow tires, chains, blankets, water, a first aid kit, ice scraper, extra clothes, and keep the gas tank at least half full.
Check the batteries on your carbon monoxide indicators and test them.
Make sure you have enough extra gas for snow blowers, generators, and gas containers.
Clearing snow off of roof tops should be considered for structures with flat roofs and ice buildup problems. If there is a large amount of snowfall clearing vent pipes to gas fueled appliances is recommended to prevent carbon monoxide buildup.
Severe weather conditions will impact travel. City officials encourage all citizens to stay off the roads as much as possible throughout the storms.
City snow plows will run continuously throughout the storm, however citizens are reminded that the main roadways will be the first priority for plowing and it could be quite some time before plows are able to work in residential areas. Please do not park on Flagstaff streets between midnight and 7:00 a.m. Please help your neighbors clear snow and snow berms whenever possible.

I have batteries on my Target list for tomorrow. I found the DVD remote open with one battery in it, figured we needed some triple A’s. I will check the batteries needed for the flashlights too, might as well pick up extra while I am there =)
