Small Forest Fire Burning Near Wing Mountain

Forest Service fire units are responding to the Wing Fire on Wing Mountain about 6 miles NW of Flagstaff, about 2-3 acres in size. A few Baderville area residents have called to report seeing smoke. A helicopter from Prescott has been brought in to help suppress the fire.

The fire was originally reported on July 3rd and was located today when it became more active. The fire was probably started by lightning.

Currently there are several lightning-caused fires burning on Mogollon Rim District which are being monitored by the fire crews.  These fires include:  the Patriot (3 ac), General (5 ac) and Independence Fire (21 acres.)
