This week’s teacher of the week is Sechrist Elementary School’s Elyse Davidson. She focuses on self-reliance, collaboration, and giving children a growth mindset. She has an interactive classroom where students are allowed to be the teachers and learn through their own style. Davidson wants students to problem solve in the way that works best for them which results in different paths for different students.

Failure is allowed in Davidson’s classroom. She explains failure as a way to help brains grow. She wants her students to know that even if they fail they can still be successful.

Students including third grader Layla Smith describe Davidson as funny and kind. Davidson wants her students to see her as someone who provides them with a good structure and is there for them when they have problems.
