Following weeks of protest, big news for state educators comes in the form of a promise by Governor Doug Ducey to put forth a net pay increase for Arizona teachers.

The plan follows weeks of statewide educator protests with the aim to improve pay for teachers, following similar success in West Virginia and Oklahoma. Governor Ducey says the full increase will take place over two years, jumping to the proposed 20% increased by the 2020 school year.

Despite the plan, Governor Ducey has not yet provided specifics, and many groups are still skeptical about the proposed increase - raising questions about where the money would come from, and how much it plans to cost by 2020.
