March 26, 2015 - NAZ Today reports on Senate Bill 1318 and what implications it has on abortion laws.

Today, the Arizona Senate sent a bill to the Governor for his approval. According to Bill 1318, any insurance policies offered through the Affordable Care Act can no longer cover the cost of abortions. This bill was successfully passed yesterday.

Cathi Herrod, President of the Center for Arizona Policy says the intent of the bill is to ensure that taxpayers aren't paying for the cost of abortions in any way.

Opponents of the bill are concerned on how this will effect Arizona residents. Bre Thomas of the Arizona Family Health Partnership says, "No federal dollars are used for that portion of that healthcare because it's against the law."

Governor Doug Ducey has not stated whether he will approve the bill, but supporters of the bill believe that he will sign it into law.
