Coconino County has declared a state of emergency following the growth of the Tinder Fire in the Happyjack area, which now spans up to 8,500 acres or 14 square miles with zero percent contained and evacuations in place.

Despite the response by local fire departments, the Red Cross has started a shelter in conjunction with the Coconino County Humane Association to help those and their pets displaced by the growing fire. Although there's a low turnout, the shelter is prepared to serve as many clients as possible.

Kennels, beds, and other necessities are available at the shelter to help those displaced by the fire and aide those and their pets uprooted by this growing threat.
