FLAGSTAFF (NAZ Today) – Another fire in the Flagstaff area has sparked up in the Schultz Pass area, approximately six miles north of the Flagstaff downtown area.
Evacuations of the now 50-acre fire are beginning in Timberline, Wupatki Trail, and Fort Timberline neighborhoods with Wupatki Estates and Fernwood on standby. With 15-17 mph winds gusting to 30 mph, this fire is growing rapidly.
According to APSN, the fire is active on both sides of the forest service road 420, and four air tankers, as well as two helicopters have been requested to help extinguish the fire.
The Flagstaff Airport is now redirecting all air traffic so that air tankers can easily come into the area, according to APSN.

Good job in getting this story up. You are the first!
Can you post a graphic–a map–to show the
location?
thanks
You have great coverage here. Thank you again.
@Mark Neumann
I work for the Coconino Forest Service and have the day off today (my region of coverage is south of I-40). But I have been listening to the scanners and can give you an approx location:
Again, this is approx but from what I can tell it is near the 35.289067,-111.635256 latitude/longitude point. So far its burned about 60 acres.
Here is that point on Google maps:

Kyle:
Excellent job on staying on top of this story. I’m currently in Portland where it’s wet!
Keep up the good work!
Kurt
My wife is currently in Parker headed home to Arkansas on Tue. Any chance she might need to detour off of I 40
@David – The fire is pretty far from the freeway. Unless the smoke cloud causes problems (which I doubt since it looks to be travelling parallel with the freeway) she should be fine.

Thanks for the update Justin, She had called me and was concerned about it.
Thanks
I have a friend staying at a cabin near Thorpe Park..the location is
near N. Humprey Street on highway 180. How far is the Shultz fire from that
location and is the wind blowing toward the park or away from it?
Thanks!
Thorpe park is on the opposite side of Flagstaff from the Schultz and Hardy fires. The wind has been blowing to the northeast, also away from Thorpe Park.
