‘High Country Bandits’ Still on the Loose

Flagstaff (NAZ Today) – It seems a like story out of a Hollywood movie.  The FBI is looking for two men of whom may be responsible for robbing up to a dozen banks.

The bank robberies have occured in rural areas of  Southern Colorado,  Northern New Mexico, and Northern Arizona over the past four months. Northern Arizona has had the most robberies, which have occurred in Flagstaff, Prescott Valley, Heber, Payson, Pinetop, Gold Canyon, and Marana.

Federal investigators have dubbed the duo as the “High Country Bandits” and say they make their getaway in a green or maroon four-wheel ATV.

Investigators say their robbery style consists of one man entering a bank right before it closes and then brandishing a gun before asking for all the money from the teller’s drawer.

Police describe the suspects as either white or Hispanic and in their 30s. One is about 5-foot-3-inches to 5-foot-6-inches tall and is described as having a deep, raspy voice and thin legs.

The other suspect is described as being 6 feet tall with straight black hair.

Tipsters who have information leading to the arrest of the bandits will receive a $2000 reward.
