PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say a man and woman found dead after a fire at a Prescott Valley home were killed in a murder-suicide.
Prescott Valley police say a homicide investigation was launched after the fire early Wednesday appeared suspicious and investigators determined that an accelerant was used to start it. Fire crews searched the burned-out home and found the bodies in separate bedrooms.
Autopsies were done Thursday and police say the woman suffered gunshot wounds to her head and was a homicide victim. Police say the man had a single gunshot wound to the head and “the manner of his death is a suicide.”
Police said Friday that they have yet to confirm the victims’ identities and can’t provide a timetable for when the names will be released. Police say they “are not seeking any outstanding suspects” in the case.
