FLAGSTAFF – (NAZ Today) Northern Arizona University’s construction project is causing controversy with the Arizona Daily Sun concerning the use of local contractors for the new Health and Learning Center.
Arizona Daily Sun reporter Joe Ferguson wrote on Friday, Oct. 30 that unfair bidding was used to decide which construction firms would head the project.
NAU President John Haeger released a letter Nov. 2 saying that the bidding was legal and that three local companies have been awarded contracts.
Ferguson said today in a phone conversation with NAZToday that he was meeting with NAU to discuss the matter. However, Tom Bauer, NAU’s assistant public director says that Haeger’s letter speaks for itself and that NAU is moving on.
Construction for the Health and Learning Center began last month and is scheduled for completion in the fall of 2010.
