PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) — These are tough times for the Yavapai Food Bank. The Prescott Valley-based food bank is running out of goods for the needy.
Food bank director Ann Wilson said she is concerned they may have to tell the needy they don’t have any food for them because the shelves are bare.
Wilson said she turned down three agencies requesting food Thursday.
Summer has proven to be a slow time for food collections because of the high price of food and not enough people donating.
In good times, the food bank hands out 80 to 120 boxes of food at each distribution which means an average of 840 won’t go hungry.
The nonprofit food bank is accepting donations of food or cash between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
