A group of Flagstaff gardeners helps keep their hobby alive by sharing seeds. Volunteers gather to collect seeds and put them in envelopes that are handed out for free at sharing events. These gardeners aren't just growing plants, they are growing friendships as well.
Director of Research at the Flagstaff Arboretum, Kristin Haskins, says seeds are "amazing packages of life," so saving and sharing them is an important conservation effort.
Seed Library Program Coordinator, Brooke Freeman, says people can volunteer to help pack seeds for the group. One of the volunteers, Judith Manoogian, says the library events have been great for her because she can enjoy talking and sharing about seeds with other people.
The next seed-swapping event will be held Friday night from 4-7 p.m. at 2304 Third Street.
