U.S. Highway 89 near Cameron reopened after flooding washed away the roadbed last week. One person was killed in an car accident resulting from the washout, and all traffic to and from the northern part of the state was forced to take a 190-mile detour.

After 48 hours of round-the-clock work, the Arizona Department of Transportation reopened the road. Traffic will still be slow in the area as more permanent repairs are made.
