Suspect Caught in Morning Bank Robbery

FLAGSTAFF (NAZ Today)-- Police have apprehended the man who robbed a Flagstaff bank earlier today.

The robbery occurred at around 10:30 am, when a man entered the Chase Bank at 4830 N. Highway 89 in east Flagstaff with a cardboard package claiming it was a bomb.  He handed the teller a note, and he was given an undisclosed amount of cash in a bank bag.

Witnesses followed the man outside, where they were able to take down the license plate number on the man's vehicle.

Police spotted the getaway vehicle at Lockett Avenue and 4th Street.  Officers pulled the vehicle over in the Safeway parking lot on Cedar Avenue and arrested 69-year-0ld Gary Riddle.  He was arrested without incident and was transported to the Flagstaff Police Department for further questioning.
