BLM, Others to Discuss Wind Farm in Mohave County

KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) — Federal officials blow into Kingman this week for a series of public meetings over the proposed Mohave County Wind Farm project.

The public meetings Tuesday through Thursday involve the Bureau of Land Management, Western Area Power Administration and the Bureau of Reclamation.

BP Wind Energy of North America has proposed building a wind farm of up to 335 wind turbine generators on federally managed lands in Mohave County.

The site is 40,000 acres of public land in the White Hills area about 40 miles northwest of Kingman and 20 miles southeast of Hoover Dam.

The project is anticipated to provide up to 500 megawatts of electricity.

Residents have until Sept. 9 to provide comments on the project to the BLM.
