PHOENIX (AP) — Gov. Jan Brewer releases her proposed state budget for the next fiscal year Friday.
Her budget proposal for the fiscal year starting July 1 is expected to include dramatic spending cuts and other steps for dealing with a shortfall projected to exceed $3 billion.
Brewer also has said Arizona voters should be asked to roll back eligibility for the state’s Medicaid program, the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System.
The governor and the Legislature have yet to close the remaining shortfall in the $8.4 billion budget for the half-over current fiscal year, estimated at $1.4 billion to $1.5 billion.
