BUCKEYE, Ariz. (AP) — A corrections official says a fight broke out among more than 100 inmates at the Lewis prison complex west of Phoenix on Wednesday, injuring three inmates and a corrections officer and putting the prison on lockdown.
Arizona Department of Corrections spokesman Barrett Marson says the officer has bumps and bruises, and one of the inmates who had a head injury was flown to a Phoenix hospital.
He says no one had life-threatening injuries, and that no weapons were used in the fight.
Marson says the fight broke out around 9 a.m. in a high-security unit of the prison. He says it occurred mostly in the recreation yard and the kitchen.
He says the reason the fight broke out is under investigation.
