First Day of Worker Furloughs in Bullhead City

BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (AP) — It’s a day without pay for Bullhead City workers.

Friday is the first of 11 furlough days instituted by the city as a cost-saving measure in the 2009-10 fiscal year.

By giving workers a pay free day off, the city said it can meet its budget challenges during the recession.

City Hall will be closed Friday, including the city’s administrative offices, Planning and Zoning and Finance Department cashiers.

Furloughs do not affect law enforcement, transportation, park and utility services in Bullhead City.
