Yavapai County Superior Judge Resigning

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) — Yavapai County Superior Court Judge Howard D. Hinson Jr. will resign Sept 30 in an agreement that will resolve misconduct allegations.

Hinson reached an agreement with the Commission on Judicial Conduct in which he admitted to the charges and agreed to resign.

He declined comment.

The commission began investigating in February after a complaint alleged Hinson exceeded the 60 days allowed for ruling on cases, filed inaccurate certifications declaring he did not have cases more than 60 days old, and did not track cases to ensure rulings within 60 days.

The commission says Hinson admitted not complying with the 60-day limit for 25 cases over three years and submitting 11 inaccurate certifications.

The Arizona Supreme Court has the final say on the agreement.
