MESA, Ariz. (AP) — The Boeing Co. is moving an aircraft repair facility for F/A-18 jets from Arizona to Florida and transferring about 60 jobs as part of the move.
Boeing workers repair flight control surfaces such as ailerons and horizontal stabilizers for Hornet and Super Hornet fighter-attacks jets at the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport site.
A Boeing statement says the move to Cecil Field near Jacksonville will combine Boeing’s Hornet repair work in one location by year’s end.
The company is offering to relocate Mesa employees if they want to move with the work. Boeing spokesman Bradley Mudd says about 10 to 15 have accepted the offer. Others are being offered assistance in applying for jobs at the company’s Apache attack helicopter operations at Mesa’s Falcon Field or at other Boeing sites.
