FLAGSTAFF (NAZ Today) — Police and Fire Officials set up a detour on Darlene Drive for about an hour tonight as firefighters from Flagstaff extinguished a chimney fire in a four-bedroom home at 2900 W. Darleen Dr.
“It was a quick knockdown — about 5 minutes,” Flagstaff Fire Capt. Brown said of the blaze.
“The fire was right at the ceiling level when we stopped it. If it had gotten into the roof, it would have been a different story,” he said.
The fire broke out shortly after 7 p.m.
Brown said the fire was called in by the homeowner, after he noticed flames shooting into the air from the chimney outside the house.
The damage was minimal, and the residents were allowed to return to the house after fire fighters ventilated remaining smoke.

The man that was pinned between two trucks is my brother. As children he was fondly known as Bub, and is to this day still known as Bub. I would like to thank every one for their thoughts and prayers. And to to Doctors and hospital staff, thank you all so very much. Many thanks to all the truckers that were there the day this happen for your help and care for my brother. Bub has three daughters in Pennsylvania that miss him so very much, Eva, Vickie, and Tonya, they all send their love.
Wow. This really makes you think about what would have happened if there were no public safety employees around…. A family inside of that burning house could have added unto a tragedy. Thank goodness for a happy ending and minimal loss to property! Thanks to all of you guys for keeping us safe.
