NAZ Today's Clare Sach reports, after 25 years of service with the Sunshine Rescue Mission Inc, Flagstaff's Stephanie Boardman has retired - handing over to Board Chairmen Kathie Knapp. The Sunshine Rescue Mission has grown from strength to strength these past few years, attracting those in desperate need of help and support from all over the state.
The Mission provides emergency shelter food and support to those in crisis, however, Boardman and Knapp both stress the pivotal importance of community and sense of being within their shelters. They explained that even after people leave to find employment and accommodation, they continue visiting due to the strong connections and alliances they create while there. Kathie Knapp says she hopes to follow in the footsteps of Stephanie Boardman and continue her legacy.
