Flagstaff has received between 12″-21″ of snowfall from Wednesday night to Thursday afternoon. Currently, and as predicted, snow levels have risen to about 7,500, causing the snow showers in the high country to switch over to rain. Rain showers will continue up 7,500 feet for the next few hours.

Over the next 4-5 hours, heavy rain will redevelop ahead of the cold front. This is the time period we can expect heavy rainfall and potential flooding in lower elevations. A Flood Warning has been issued for Yavapai County. This means that flooding is imminent along Oak Creek and the Verde River.

Late this evening, the cold front is forecasted to pass through, bringing with it cold temperature and a drop in the snow level down to 4,000 feet.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for the high country. Residents should expect another 1′-3′ of snow over the next 36 hours. A Winter Storm Warning has also been issued for Yavapai County for tonight and tomorrow. Yavapai County valleys should expect 6″-10″ of snow through Saturday morning.

For lower elevations, heavy rains and wind will continue and become very strong overnight.

NAZtoday.com will continue to update information as necessary.
